Red Bull Cliff Diving 2011 – final stage in Yalta
So I finally decided to write about my little trip to the Crimea, which took place almost two months ago.
In August, I learned that on September 4, Ukraine will host the final stage of the world series of cliff diving – Red Bull Cliff Diving. Without thinking for a long time, I decided to go and see the masters of this unique sport, who jump from the rocks from an incredible height of 27 meters.
Cycling trip to Khortytsia
I wanted to ride a bike, but not around Dnipropetrovsk, but somewhere far away. I immediately thought about Khortytsia – I was there once, but I didn’t have time to explore this giant island properly. As it turned out, doing this on a bicycle is also not easy.
The distance is just right for me (Google showed 80 kilometers, but you can safely add another 20 to its measurements). The day before the trip I drove with GPS in my phone and measured my speed. I was glad: it turned out to be over 20 km/h, so I should get to Khortytsia in 5 hours.
Airborne Forces Day in Hvardiiske
The end of our stay in the Samara forest coincided with Paratroopers Day, which is celebrated on August 2. On this day, in the nearby village of Hvardiiske, a celebratory demonstration was held, in which fighters of the 25th separate Dnipropetrovsk airborne brigade took part.
Samara Forest: Cherkaske
The forest formed in the Samara region is a unique ecosystem. In addition to the fact that it is home to rare representatives of the animal world of Ukraine, the Samara forest can also surprise you with its diversity of vegetation – oaks and maples are replaced by pine masses in an instant.
Spending a few days in this forest on the banks of Samara is a great pleasure, inhaling its smell, you feel that you have entered a real forest, which no artificial green space can compare with. A real corner of paradise in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Cycling Dnipropetrovsk - Stari Kodaky
The KAVA club organizes bike rides in Dnipropetrovsk for everyone, weekly. On Sunday, July 17, the destination was a quarry in the village of Stari Kodaky. Thanks to this ride, I saw the Dnipropetrovsk airport for the first time, as well as the quarry itself, and also practiced taking photos from a bicycle on the move.
